Arrests
A Peerless Avenue man, 39, was charged with assault on a police officer, tampering with evidence, drug abuse, resisting arrest and obstructing official business. Officers were checking a car on Dorchester Road when a man got out and ran and hid behind bushes. When apprehended, he allegedly struck an officer. Police retraced his steps and found $869 buried in snow and cocaine wrapped in money in the backyard of a Dorchester home.
A Butler Avenue man, 47, was charged with identity fraud, forgery, tampering with evidence and possession of criminal tools. Police said he went to a Bureau of Motor Vehicles outlet and obtained a driver’s license using a false name in June 2011 and again in October. Police said the man also obtained a motor vehicle registration for a 2001 Cadillac and a 1994 Mercedes-Benz, both under the false name. He was in a car crash and gave the false name to officers, police said.
An Augusta Circle Southeast man, 26, was charged with improper handling of a weapon, having a weapon while intoxicated, discharging a firearm, failing to notify police of having a concealed weapon permit and having an open container. Officers responded to a call about shots fired at South Arlington Street and Pardee Avenue, and saw a man standing outside a car. They asked if he had any weapons, and he responded yes. Police found a loaded handgun and an open bottle of beer in his car. The man had a concealed-carry permit but did not tell police that he was armed, officers said. Police said he had fired two shots.
A Gordon Avenue woman, 37, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after JD Byrider lent her a car while making made repairs on her vehicle in November. The woman did not bring the car back and did not return the company’s calls, police said.
A Yukon Avenue man, 39, was charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing official business. Police reported finding drugs on the man after he left a known drug house.
A Beechwood Drive man, 30 was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly assaulted a woman who is three months pregnant.
A Springdale Drive man, 26, was charged with domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A Crosby Street man, 49, was charged with domestic violence.

A Barberton High School student, 15, was charged with assault Feb. 16 after he allegedly hit a fellow student in the face with a textbook and broke the classmate’s glasses.
A Barberton man, 42, was charged with felony domestic violence Feb. 12 after he allegedly assaulted a woman, 48, in their home.
Burglary
A West Tuscarawas Avenue man, 19, told police that two men broke into his apartment and assaulted him Feb. 12.
Thefts
Four video games and $40 in change were reported stolen from a home Feb. 15 in the 300 block of Frank Avenue. Police discovered the games had been sold to a resale shop.
Someone stole more than $1,000 worth of tools from a home in the 1100 block of Oak Avenue between Dec. 28 and Feb. 13.
Copley Township
Arrests
A Doylestown man, 29, was arrested Feb. 12 at a Montrose West hotel on warrants from three Summit County jurisdictions. Police were alerted to the man after he ran through a hotel lobby, yelling for his girlfriend.
An Akron man was charged with violating a protection order Feb. 12 after he allegedly called his estranged wife at a Copley Township restaurant where she works. A court had ordered him not to make contact with her.
Criminal damaging
A Jacoby Road man discovered Feb. 1 that someone spray-painted lewd pictures on his driveway and placed a “for sale” sign in his yard.

Arrests
An Akron man, 26, of Neptune Avenue, and a Tallmadge man, 39, of Munroe Road, were charged with illegally manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing chemicals used to make the drug and possessing criminal tools Feb. 6. The two were arrested at State Road and Broad Boulevard.
A Chestnut Boulevard man, 29, was charged with domestic violence Feb. 11 after he allegedly threw his girlfriend out the front door of his house, pushed her down the stairs and knocked her down.
A Bailey Road man, 30, was charged with domestic violence Feb. 7 after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend’s neck and threw her to the floor.
Theft
A 1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88 valued at $2,500 was reported stolen Feb. 11 from a parking lot at Toys “R” Us in the 500 block of Howe Road. The thief had smashed a car window.
A 9-mm Springfield Armory handgun was reported stolen Feb. 10 from a home in the 3100 block of Yellow Creek Road.
About $2,500 was reported stolen Feb. 8 from a home in the 2500 block of North Haven Boulevard. The burglar entered the home through an attached garage and stole the cash from an envelope in a dresser.

An Akron man, 24, was charged with obstructing official business and driving with a suspended license Feb. 10. following a minor traffic accident on Ghent Road at Smith Road. A witness told police that the man switched to the passenger’s seat after the crash.
Burglary
Someone kicked in the door of an apartment in the 2600 block of Chamberlain Road and stole $500 on Feb. 13.
Theft
A Cleveland-Massillon Road woman told police that 10 rings and a set of earrings, total value $6,500, were stolen from her purse.
Norton
Fraud
A Durham Road woman, 74, reported Feb. 11 that an Internet site notified her that she won $20,000. She emailed her name, address, phone number and times she would be home before realizing it was a scam.

Arrests
A Stow-Munroe Falls High School student, 16, was charged with illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon into a school safety zone Feb. 3 after he allegedly had a knife on a school bus.
Two boys, both 14, were charged with felonies Feb. 5 for allegedly possessing drugs inside Stow-Munroe Falls High School. Police said the teens had marijuana and Ritalin pills. One boy was charged with trafficking and the other was charged with possession.
A Canton man, 46, of Stillwater Avenue Northwest, was charged with having illegal drug documents, deception to obtain dangerous drugs and forgery Feb. 12 after Wooster police stopped his vehicle at state Route 21 and Eastern Road. Stow police said the man obtained prescription drugs Jan. 31 at a CVS pharmacy in the 3300 block of Kent Road by using a fake prescription document and forging a doctor’s signature.
A Cuyahoga Falls man, 19, of Ninth Street, was charged with trafficking drugs Feb. 8. He was arrested in Bowman Hall at Kent State University.
Rape
A woman, 40, told police that she was attacked, raped and robbed around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in the parking lot of Walmart in the 3500 block of Hudson Drive. The woman told officers that her $16,000 wedding ring set, athletic shoes, cash and prescription medication were stolen.
Thefts
A worker at the R.S.V.P. store in the 4400 block of Kent Road told police a woman stole $22,000 in deposits between Nov. 20 and Jan. 28.
About $2,000 in jewelry was reported stolen Feb. 9 from a home in the 3400 block of Verner Road. The thief entered the home through an unlocked sliding glass door and stole several items, including a wedding ring set and a dog tag necklace that says “My heart belongs to a soldier.”
Weapon possession
A ninth-grade student at Stow-Munroe Falls High School brought a box cutter to school Feb. 6 and showed it to other students, police said. The boy turned the box cutter over to an assistant principal and told him that he forgot it was in his pocket from the day before.

An orange snowblower was reported stolen Feb. 12 from a garage in the 500 block of Helena Drive. A resident told police that the garage door had been opening on its own because of a mechanical malfunction.

A Lakemore man, 19, of Lakeview Street, was charged with domestic violence, resisting arrest and offenses involving underage persons Feb. 8. His mother said he became aggressive and made threatening gestures toward her.
A South Arlington Road boy, 15, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation Feb. 6 after being charged with domestic violence at the Lakemore municipal offices on Main Street. Police said the boy was a runaway who struck his brother twice in the head and back.
Burglary
A Laverne Lane man told police that someone entered his home Feb. 3, possibly with a duplicate key. He said 45 Spider-Man comic books, sports equipment and other items, total value $1,590, were stolen.

Sixty soda-pop cases, total value $1,100, were reported stolen Feb. 2 at Cafe 77 on Canton Road.

Child endangering
A small child was left in a car Feb. 13 in a parking lot at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital. The case was sent to a city prosecutor for possible charges.

Arrests
A Burns Court woman, 34, was charged Feb. 12 with three counts of endangering children, aggravated possession of drugs and possessing drug abuse instruments. Authorities said she was apprehended on a warrant served to her at the Glenwood Jail.
A Sharpsville, Pa., man, 22, was charged with aggravated burglary Feb. 12 in the 500 block of East Summit Avenue.
A Carol Drive man, 35, was charged with domestic violence at his home Feb. 11.

An Akron man, 23, of Alphada Avenue, was arrested Feb. 2 on a Jackson police warrant alleging misuse of credit cards.
An Independence Circle Northwest man, 37, was charged with domestic violence Feb. 4. Police said he quarreled with his wife, grabbed her by the throat and pushed her over a couch.
A Nobles Pond Drive Northwest man was charged with domestic violence Feb. 4 after he allegedly threatened his father with serious harm and damaged household items. Four days later, a resident told police that clothing and furs, total value $1,000, were taken from a pickup truck.
An Akron woman, 27, of Annapolis Avenue, was charged with felonious vandalism Feb. 3 after she allegedly rammed her sport utility vehicle into a Jackson Township man’s garage door and pickup truck.

An Everhard Road Southwest man told police Feb. 2 that his utility trailer and hunting gear, total value $14,500, were stolen.

An apartment building was heavily damaged by a fire Feb. 8 in the 600 block of Pittsburgh Avenue. Authorities suspected arson.

A Patrick Place woman, 63, reported Feb. 10 that someone stole her credit card information and used it to purchase items.
